Our beautiful batch of award-winning okumidori blend matcha from Shizuoka, Japan
This is our heritage grade matcha that we recommend to make a great usucha or matcha latte. This is what you want to get if you want to rival mid-tier offerings from many Japanese brands. Better than the quality you get at most Japanese cafes
The okumidori blend has a naturally darker green hue than the tsuyuhikari blend due to the relatively higher altitude it was grown at
- Cultivars: Okumidori-dominant blend with other proprietary cultivars
- Harvest: First harvest only (Spring 2025)
- Grind: Ball-milled (~15-20 microns)
- Altitude: 300-600 m

- Notes: fresh, sweet, smooth, nutty, umami
This matcha has a very slightly "grainier" texture compared to some of my premium products, but I still chose it due to its fantastic flavour, accessibility, and being able to offer this at a relatively lower price point as this was more important to me than the grind size
In terms of flavour alone, this some people prefer the freshness of the tsuyuhikari blend and others prefer the stronger flavour of this okumidori blend. Either one is better than most others on the market in New Zealand
Nitrogen-gas flushed for guaranteed freshness for at least a year from processing date if kept unopened and refrigerated

Storage
squeeze out air from the zip lock bag, reseal, and refrigerate. it will last many, many months that way
do not store powdered tea at room temperature for extended periods
