This is a beautiful award-winning dark roasted, single cultivar yabukita hojicha from Shizuoka, Japan
This is my imperial grade dark roast hojicha that we recommend to make an usucha-style hojicha or an incredible hojicha latte. Not gritty like other brands 😏
- Cultivars: Single cultivar yabukita
- Harvest: First harvest only (Spring 2025)
- Grind: Ball-milled (~15-20 microns)
- Altitude: 200-500 m
- Origin: Shizuoka, Japan
- Notes: toasted grains, popcorn, burnt sugar, cocoa, umami
This is some top tier stuff. I reckon this dark roasted hojicha is better than any other dark roasted hojicha you can get in New Zealand. Perhaps the flavour might not be as complex as some dark roasts, but I'm pretty sure you'll want to keep coming back. I don't think super dark roasts would sell if I brought it in lol

Storage
squeeze out air from the zip lock bag, reseal, and refrigerate. it will last many, many months that way
do not store powdered tea at room temperature for extended periods
